Shop Aids

This site represents CNCs, supporting equipment and organizations. With this in mind these shop aids attempt to support CNCs, conventional machines, tooling, and maintenance.

Machining:

Shaft Keyway Depth Calculator
This calculator is for determining the total depth from the outside of a shaft to the bottom of a keyway. Once this is known, the cutter can be fed down to the required depth without taking any measurements other than that indicated by the graduations or scale on the machine.

Circle X/Y Coordinates Calculator
This calculator is for determining the X/Y coordinates relative to the center of a circle. These coordinates can then be used to drill holes, make circular slots, etc, around a radius.

Cutting Speeds and Feeds Calculators
One calculator returns the RPM given the material diameter and surface speed. It calculates for different material diameter shapes or for drills or other cutting tools. The other calculator returns the feedrate in inches per minute and millimeters per minute from the given RPM and either feed per revolution or feed per tooth.

Inch / Metric Tap Drill Sizes & Decimal Equivalents
Chart of drill sizes for inch and metric taps. Includes the decimal equivelant for both drill sizes.

Fastener Torque:

Inch Bolt Torque Table - 75% of proof load - Lb. Ft. or Lb. In.

Inch Bolt Torque Table - 75% of proof load - Newton Meter  Nm

Metric Bolt Torque Table - 75% of proof load - Lb. Ft. or Lb. In.

Metric Bolt Torque Table - 75% of proof load - Newton Meter  Nm

Torque Wrench Adapter Calculator
This calculator is for determining the torque wrench setting when using an offset adapter. When using an offset adapter, the torque wrench setting should be calculated because the offset adds or subtracts from the length of the torque wrench to the fastener.

Convert Units of Torque Conversion table of torque units from metric to inch and inch to metric.

Thread Engagement Percentage of thread engagement, and length of thread engagement.

Electrical:

Three-phase Voltage Unbalance Calculator
This is a short technical article and a calculator is for determining the voltage unbalance of three-phase electricity as defined by NEMA.

Trig. Calculators:

Right-angled Triangle Calculator
This calculator finds the desired side or angle of a triangle that has one angle of 90 degrees.

Trigonometric Functions Calculator
This calculator converts decimal degrees to the values of the natural functions sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant, cosecant, hyperbolic sine, hyperbolic cosine, hyperbolic tangent, involute, sevolute, plus radians.
